AN INDEPENDENT, nimble and agile MULTI-DISCIPLINE company, HELPING BIG BRANDS CREATE CULTURAL VALUE THROUGH AUTHENTIC experiences, meaningful stories and impactful content that matter and people want to talk about.
Founded and managed by Leila Fataar, a cultural branding and marketing expert with a full to bursting contacts book of influential global cultural voices and creators.
Leila's first company, Spin Publicity, launched in 2002, was born out of a desire to blend traditional fashion PR with a burgeoning and infant online PR and marketing industry. A progressive, integrated 360 creative communications company, Spin Publicity was one of the first London fashion PR firms to experiment in this new digital space with big commercial fashion clients, upcoming and emerging fashion labels, creatives and creators and even a controversial magazine, called Vice Magazine, amongst others.
8 years later, and after a 6 month sabbatical to Asia, Leila returned to London and rebranded the company to Spin Agency in 2010. With a focus on streetwear PR, events, content creation and social media, the agency quickly picked up tastemaker clients like Carhartt and Garbstore; and the now legendary London trade show, Jacket Required.
In 2012, she made the decision to close Spin Agency to gain more corporate and big brand inhouse experience. She was quickly recruited by adidas Originals and moved to their German HQ with her family. Heading up the then newly formed integrated global PR/Social division, Leila brought a more streetwise way of marketing to the sportswear heavyweight. Her first project - the global re-release of the iconic show, Stan Smith - was a runaway success, winning the coveted "Shoe of the Year" award in its year of launch. After two years, adidas Originals was voted 2nd by its hard to please audience and the Editors Choice for THE MOST RELEVANT BRAND in respected culture publication, High Snobiety's debut Crown awards, in 2014.
2015 saw Leila returning to London, with her next major career milestone as the first Head of Culture & Entertainment for drinks giant, Diageo in Europe. Under her leadership, the newly formed role and department has been responsible for a number of culture first projects and partnerships across the premium core portfolio of Smirnoff, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Tanqueray, Gordons, Guinness and Hop House 13.
2017 and the launch of Platform13, with Diageo as a founding client, is a natural evolution for Leila. A proven track record and a unique ability to be able to speak three languages fluently – cultural, corporate & entrepreneurial - means she is able to translate business objectives into innovative plans to build cultural value and business growth for big brands and businesses.
