Platform13 was brought on to support BBC Children in Need with the creation of a new brand identity for its We Move Fund - a fund that aims to empower Black children and young people to use their voice to tackle subjects that matter to them - by providing real world insghts relevant to these communities.
A deep brand immersion through a series of stakeholder interviews set out the ambitions for the project - to move from a Fund to a Movement.
With the fund created for Black African, Caribbean, Afro-Latinx descent, or Black with mixed heritage communities across the countries, we wanted to ensure their voices were front and centre, by developing and facilitating an interactive youth workshop of 13-18 year olds at BBC MediaCityUK in Manchester.
We worked with a team of people local to Manchester, from the Black community, who understood the world of our young participants and could help us to draw out their opinions on a range of topics to inform the new identity.
The workshop was held over one day and involved a variety of activities and formats tailored to the young participants, through customised worksheets, AV activities and discussion guides.
A comprehensive report that demonstrated what the new We Move Fund identity should incorporate in order to resonate with the target communities and other important stakeholders.
